Is the Quran Historically Reliable ?

If Allah of Islam is all-knowing and is the author of the Quran which Islam claims to be the perfectly preserved revelation of Allah, then what the Quran states should be consistent with historical evidence in terms of the existence of cities, groups of people, events, and timing. So does the Quran measure up with history? If it does not and has numerous errors, then how could the author be from an all-knowing God? Man can make mistakes but not God!
